What is the Gospel?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundation of who we are. The Gospel can be found in the clear teachings of the Bible and should govern all of the Christian life. It’s one of the most important things we could say.
What defines Emmanuel Baptist Church?
Emmanuel Baptist is more than just a building, we are a family. We are strong in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ and our relationships with each other as members in the body of Christ.
Presence: The presence of God was lost in the Garden with the sin of Adam and Eve. From that point forward God was working out His plan of salvation. The coming of Christ is central to God and man being reconciled. In Jesus, the presence of God is restored. *Matthew 1:22-23 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”
Sincere Devotion to Christ: The first commandment is that we love the Lord our God with our whole being. It is easy to allow other things to take the proper place of Christ in our lives. Our focus at Emmanuel is a simple devotion to Christ. *2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
Jars of clay: People are flawed and broken. When we come to Christ, we retain that brokenness. While we are in process of being matured in Christ we will still have flaws yet these flaws can be used by God to reveal God’s glory. *2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
